This report presents the findings from a comparative study of the host community perceptions of the impacts of the Australian Formula One Grand Prix in 1999 and in 2002. The study, which has used the same survey  instrument for both years, examines the perceived impact of this event on the quality of personal life and also of the community. It uses the concept of resident perceptions to measure the impact of a range of variables from the event such as noise, traffic and waste.

The aim of this research project was to develop, test and refine an evaluation tool kit for assessing the impacts of interpretation on visitors at heritage, nature and food and beverage tourism sites. In particular, we sought to develop a package that was user-friendly and practical for operators to use, yet based on theory and rigorous research methods.
