Accommodation, transport and recreation facilities are key components of a major tourism destination, the Gold Coast. Plans for improving the overall attraction of a destination need to be based on detailed information highlighting the current state of such infrastructure. The beach is generally recognised as the most important recreation amenity in the region for Gold Coast residents, as well as tourists. However, there is very little data to support the role that this amenity plays in the life of Gold Coast residents. This survey set out to collect data from Gold Coast residents regarding their beach use and the values they associate with the beach, and to develop estimates of the economic value of the beach to residents.

The goal of this research is to gain a better understanding of how to leverage sport as a tool in the place of marketing strategy to develop the local economy.  This study investigates the policy process in sport and place marketing strategies by examining the planning, marketing, and implementation of pre-Games training for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. In 2000, Australian public officials and businesses recognised the value of pre-games training prior to the Sydney Olympic Games and mounted an aggressive effort to leverage Olympic opportunities in the country.

This ship sourced pollution study originated from a research program conducted by the South-East Queensland Regional Water Quality Management Strategy, a multi-agency community/industry/government partnership group. Results from previous studies and feedback from principal stakeholders such as Maritime Safety Queensland, prompted demand for a second study to investigate levels of trace metals at selected popular anchorages in eastern Moreton Bay.

This study originated from a research program conducted by the South East Queensland Regional Water Quality Management Strategy, a multi-agency community/ industry/government partnership group. The first phase of the study produced a final report on ship-sourced pollution in the Brisbane River and Moreton Bay. Imminent changes to sewage discharge regulations for recreational vessels operating in Queensland’s coastal waters and concerns about nutrients derived from sewage emissions fuelled demand for a study aimed at identifying sewage signatures from recreational and tourist vessels.

The research in this report was an investigation of the criteria pertinent to establishing a destination brand. The research project investigated the role of destination brand and image as a motivator for destination vacation choice.  The project made a comparison of two destinations, the Gold Coast and Melbourne, Australia.
