PATA Foundation Case Studies

PATA FoundationThe PATA Foundation is a natural extension of PATA’s dedication to the principles of conservation, which are part of the Association’s charter. When the concept of a charitable foundation was first proposed at the 33rd PATA Annual Conference in 1984, there was unanimous member approval.

PATA Foundation’s mission is to contribute to the sustainable and responsible development of travel and tourism in Asia Pacific through the protection of the environment, the conservation of heritage and support for education.

Since its inception, PATA has been a champion of environmental and cultural heritage preservation as it relates to travel and tourism development. PATA recognises the importance of the environment, cultural heritage and education on the long-term viability of destinations.

Grant 2015 – Capacity Building for sustainable nature tourism in Singhalila National Park, Darjeeling, India

The project seeks to fill the intervention gap of capacity building of Park Guides in Singhalila National Park, in an effort to promote conservation and sustainable nature tourism in the park.  The project proposes to develop the capacity of the 100 park guides of Singhalila by organising formal skill development and capacity building training programmes. « more »

Grant 2015 – Vocational Training Restaurant for Marginalized Youth in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR

Established by Friends-International (FI), an international NGO with headquarters in Cambodia.  FI has provided services to marginalised children, youth and their families across the world since 1994.
