Comments Off on 2018 Top100 Call for Nominations

Sustainable tourism is the biggest movement that the global travel industry has encountered in a very long time indeed – and it’s our job to make sure that you really benefit from it.

One such major initiative is the Global Top 100 Sustainable Destinations. Now in its 4th year the Top100 Sustainable Destinations is exactly what its name indicates – showcasing the best of the best in the world of tourism.

By publishing an annual list and by sharing destination management good practices and success stories, the initiators wish to acknowledge initiatives making tourism destinations more sustainable, responsible and better from a visitor experience point of view. Selection of a destination in the Top 100 does not mean it is fully sustainable. It means that it has made good efforts, and is making progress.

February 15, 2018 is the last day for “early-bird” nominations; May 1, 2018 is the last day for nominations.

PATA is supporting the 2016 Sustainable Destinations Top 100, and we call upon all of you to nominate your destination for this competition. Towns, islands, and protected areas are eligible, and even regions up to 40,000 km².

Applying for the Top 100 can expand your exposure and recognition as a sustainable destination. Through the Top 100 Media partners, selected destinations can receive a lot of media publicity.

You can use the Nomination Form in the Top 100 webpage. Nominations submitted by 1 July 2016 will be evaluated during July by international experts in tourism sustainability and a Selection Panel. In this case you can get feedback and submit your improved nomination by the final deadline of 1 August 2016.

The results of the competition will be announced at a Gala Dinner at World Tourism Day, as part of the Global Green Destinations Day event, 27-28 September 2016 in Ljubljana (Slovenia). By bringing together destinations and solution providers, this will be the main event on sustainable destination management this year.

We wish you success with your nomination!
